1. Agreement to Terms

By downloading, accessing or using Yabo (marketed as "Yabo : Learn German", the "App") and any related services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. What Yabo Is

Yabo is a German-learning app built around short video clips. You scroll a feed of clips of roughly 9 to 50 seconds, each paired with a transcript that stays in sync with the audio. You can tap any word to see what it means in that specific sentence, save it, review it later as a flashcard, and practise it in the in-app games.

3. Sign-In and Your Store Account

The App offers Sign in with Apple and Google Sign-In. Signing in runs against Apple or Google directly and is used to identify the store account that holds your subscription, so that your purchase can be recognised and restored. Yabo Studio does not create a server-side account for you, and your learning data is not tied to a Yabo Studio login. You are responsible for keeping your Apple ID or Google account secure and for all activity that takes place under it.

4. Subscription Access and Billing

Yabo is a subscription app. There is no free version — an active subscription is required to use it. Subscriptions are offered on both the Apple App Store and Google Play, and entitlements are managed through RevenueCat. Billing and payment are handled entirely by Apple or Google; Yabo Studio never sees or stores your card details.

• Payment is charged to your Apple App Store or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase.
• The subscription renews automatically unless auto-renew is switched off at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
• Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the current period ends.
• You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple App Store or Google Play account settings.
• Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies. We have no ability to issue a refund on their behalf.

5. YouTube Video Content

Every video you watch in Yabo is hosted on YouTube and played through YouTube's official IFrame Player API inside a web view. Yabo hosts no video of its own. The App never downloads, stores, re-hosts, or extracts audio from any video, and it does not make video available outside of the YouTube player.

Because playback takes place in the YouTube player, your use of the video portion of the App is also governed by the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy. By using the App you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service.

All rights in the videos themselves remain with their respective owners and uploaders. Yabo Studio claims no ownership of, and grants you no rights in, any third-party video. Clips may be edited, made private, age-restricted, geo-restricted or deleted by their uploader or by YouTube at any time, and a clip may stop playing for reasons outside our control. We do not guarantee that any particular clip will remain available, and we are not responsible for the content of third-party videos or for changes YouTube makes to its player or API.

6. Yabo Studio Content and Intellectual Property

While Yabo Studio owns none of the video, it does own and produce everything layered on top of it. The following are the property of Yabo Studio and are protected by copyright, database, trademark and other intellectual property laws:

• the selected clip time ranges;
• the transcripts;
• the per-sentence translations;
• the per-word contextual meanings;
• the dictionary and lexicon entries;
• the CEFR level estimates and category tags;
• the spaced-repetition system, the games and the home-screen widget;
• the App itself, including its software, design, layout and arrangement.

7. Licence and Acceptable Use

Subject to these Terms and an active subscription, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App for your own language learning. You agree not to:

• copy, scrape, bulk-export or republish the transcripts, translations, word meanings, dictionary entries or level and category data;
• use the App or its content to build, train or evaluate a competing product or dataset;
• attempt to download, capture, re-host or strip the audio from any video played in the App, or otherwise circumvent the YouTube player;
• reverse engineer, decompile or tamper with the App, or bypass the subscription check;
• use the App in any way that breaks applicable law or the YouTube Terms of Service.

8. Network Connection and Offline Use

The video feed requires an active network connection, because the clips stream from YouTube. Your saved words, flashcards and games do work offline. An active subscription is required either way.

9. Educational Content Disclaimer

Yabo is a learning aid, not a certified course or a substitute for formal instruction. Transcripts, translations, contextual word meanings and CEFR level estimates are produced to the best of our ability but may contain errors, may simplify nuance, and may not reflect every regional or colloquial usage. We make no promise of any particular learning outcome, proficiency level, exam result or fluency. Videos come from third parties and may contain language or views we do not endorse.

10. User Contributions

If the App allows you to submit content in the future — for example corrections or reported mistakes — your submissions must comply with applicable law and must not infringe third-party rights. You grant us a licence to use such submissions to operate and improve the App.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or uninterrupted or error-free operation.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Yabo Studio, its directors, employees, partners and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages resulting from your use of or inability to use the App, including any unavailability of third-party video content.

13. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the App immediately, without prior notice, if you breach these Terms. You may end this agreement at any time by cancelling your subscription in your store account settings and uninstalling the App.

14. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.

15. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
